What a business website costs in Laos (and what is included)
Website quotes can differ a lot for what looks like the same thing. This guide explains what drives the price, what a quote should include, and which running costs to plan for.
A website is not a single product with a fixed price. Two quotes for "a five-page website" can include very different work. Understanding what you are paying for makes it much easier to compare offers and avoid surprises after launch.
What decides the price
The main cost drivers are:
- Number of pages and templates: a five-page company site is very different from a site with a blog, project portfolio and many service pages
- Custom design or template: a custom design takes more work than adapting an existing layout
- Functions: online payment, booking, multi-language content, member areas and integrations with other systems all add work
- Content: whether you supply text and photos, or they need to be written and produced
- Support after launch: how long fixes and help are included
What a professional quote should include
Whoever builds your website, check that the quote clearly covers:
- Mobile-responsive design that works on phones
- An SSL certificate (the padlock in the browser)
- A structure Google can understand: page titles, headings, clean addresses
- Contact forms and click-to-call or WhatsApp links
- Domain and hosting: who registers them, for how long, and in whose name
- A support period after launch, and what happens when it ends
If a quote does not mention one of these, ask before you sign.

Running costs to plan for
The build is only part of the cost of owning a website. Plan for:
- Domain renewal every year
- Hosting after any free period ends
- Updates and security: WordPress, themes and plugins need regular updates to stay secure
- Content changes: new services, prices, photos and news
EDS website care plans start at 1,500,000 LAK a month and cover security updates, backups with 30-day retention and monthly content updates.
How to compare quotes fairly
- Put the quotes side by side against the checklist above
- Ask to see websites the company has built, and check them on your phone
- Ask who owns the website, domain and content after launch (at EDS, you own them after full payment)
- Ask what support costs after the included period
A cheaper quote that leaves out hosting, SSL or support often costs more within a year. If you are planning a new website or a redesign, a free Digital Health Check of your current site is a useful starting point.
